Welcome to the Department's Freedom of Information (FoI) pages. Within these pages you will find guidance on how to make a FoI request and information already published by the Department. You will also find out if the information you require is covered by another Act.

The Freedom of Information Act came into force at the beginning of 2005. It deals with access to official information, while parallel regulations deal with environmental information.

The Act provides individuals or organisations with the right to request information held by a public authority.

Requests Archive 2005 - 2009

Between 2005 and 2009 DCMS published non-confidential Freedom of Information responses. This archive is available to browse on the UK Government Webarchive.

DCMS no longer publishes every response however where FoI cases are of particular interest to the wider public these responses will be published on our transparency site.
