We will fully comply with the provisions of the FOI Act, and are fully behind the spirit of the Act, which is for openness and accountability.

However, there will be times when we are unable to provide some, or all, of the information you have requested, because it is not in the public interest to do so. In these cases, we will explain why we have withheld information.

Internal Review

If you are dissatisfied with our response you may ask the Department to review the decision. Internal reviews are conducted by a senior official unconnected with the original case handling. We aim to complete all internal reviews within 20 working days, but for more complicated cases it may take up to 40 days to completely review the case.

Complaint to the Information Commissioner

If you remain dissatisfied after the review and feel we have not complied with our obligations under the Freedom of Information Act, you will be able to complain to the Information Commissioner.
